Dr. Tyson Chung is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who is committed to the rehabilitation of each individual's ability to overcome obstacles across the lifespan. Dr. Chung comes to Persona with a specialized interest in brain-behavior relationships within the context of an individual's social and cultural environment. His approach to assessment and treatment aims to identify immediate barriers to recovery in order to work with clients to identify adaptive cognitive skills and social emotional coping strategies to maximize quality of life.
Dr. Chung obtained his PhD from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology and then he completed a postdoctoral neuropsychology fellowship through Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation. Additional training occurred through City of Hope, Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, and Pacific Clinics. He has experience assessing Pediatric-Oncology patients and treating individuals living with a traumatic brain injury, thought disorders and mood disorders. Additionally, he has experience working with Older Adults referred for suspected Dementia and age related concerns. His treatment approach encompasses Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and adolescence, treatments using Evidence-Based Practices, and the utilization of Biofeedback across the lifespan.
In addition, Dr. Chung served as an executive member on the Riverside County Department of Mental Health Advisory Board for three years, was previously a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and briefly assisted on stalking related cases through the District Attorney's office of Los Angeles. Formerly he served as a student missionary in Burkina Faso, West Africa for one year providing educational relief efforts. Having adopted two children of his own, Dr. Chung has a specialized clinical and research focus on the neuropsychological consequences of pre & post-natal trauma among foster and adopted youth.
