Dr. Wertheimer is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 22895) and a Clinical Neuropsychologist with
extensive experience in neuropsychological and psychological assessment, psychotherapy, behavioral
management/modification, and pain management intervention; he provides services for individuals
across the spectrum of adulthood. With regard to neuropsychological evaluations, he has proficiency
in conducting brief and comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, competency evaluations, and
forensic evaluations. Dr. Wertheimer provides consultative services with multi- and inter-disciplinary
treatment teams at various institutions in Southern California.
He received his Ph.D. in Psychology from Oklahoma State University in 2003, completed his internship in
Clinical Psychology at the Ann Arbor VA Healthcare System in Ann Arbor, MI, and completed his postdoctoral
fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan/Wayne State University
School of Medicine. He is currently the Chair of The Joint Committee on Interprofessional Relations Between
the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Division 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology) of the
American Psychological Association (APA).
Dr. Wertheimer invests a significant amount of time in research activities, writing scientific manuscripts,
and lecturing nationally and internationally. His research interests are in the areas of cognitive and functional
outcome in individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury, interdisciplinary collaboration, Movement
Disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease (PD) and the assessment of the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s
disease pre and post- Deep Brain Stimulation, clinical validation of neuropsychological instruments in the
assessment of brain injury, and cognitive rehabilitation.
